Values to Vision
The ministries of Christian Endeavor International continue to embody the values of the early Endeavor Societies. Today's Endeavor Societies consist of young people who make the commitment to live daily for Jesus Christ and take action to make a difference in their world.
We continue to honor Dr. Francis Clark’s beliefs that young people can make the same level of commitment to Jesus Christ as adults, and adults should never do anything for young people they can learn to do for themselves. Instead, they act as mentors who guide youth to: meet together, care for each other, learn from each other, expererience God, and take action. In Endeavor Societies, young people learn to accept responsibility for their faith, organize into teams, and identify and meet real needs.
The Reasons
Christian Endeavor works in any context. It can start with as few as two or three young people and one volunteer adult in a church, on a campus, or within a local community. As a result, new Endeavor Societies have been established worldwide in rural communities, urban centers, and the spaces in between. Christian Endeavor awakens a passion for Jesus Christ in youth and gives them the ability to do something significant today. Youth emerge as leaders, and adults become mentors instead of program directors. As youth are equipped to serve, their authentic faith flourishes:
- Youth learn to trust in God’s wisdom.
- Youth take ownership for their faith.
- Youth serve in local communities.
- Youth impact other youth positively.
- Youth live daily for Jesus Christ.
The Resources
Through the Endeavor Movement, we provide the following resources to help facilitate the shift to embracing the time-tested and proven origins of youth ministry:
- Structure that allows youth to own and operate all aspects of their ministry
- Model that transforms youth from passive spectators to active contributors
- Materials, training, and support for adult mentors and all young leaders.
The Results
Our mission to give every young person the chance to serve Jesus Christ in a significant way and find their place in his cause by the age of 21 produces:
- Empowered, confident, and engaged young leaders
- Christ‐focused youth with a solid foundation in God’s Word
- Young people who remain active in a Christian community for life
- Youth equipped to join in the work of fulfilling The Great Commission
