Christian Endeavor was founded in 1881 in Portland, Maine, and became a global movement. It is considered the father of modern youth ministry. In Christian Endeavor, youth lead as adults mentor. The model is simple: never do anything for young people in the church that they can learn to do for themselves. Over the last 50 years, the Christian Endeavor movement in North America has slowly faded, while the need for its message continues to increase. There are CE Unions working in over 40 countries across the globe. These national unions comprise the World Christian Endeavor Union. Christian Endeavor International is the North American arm of the historic movement, and the Endeavor Movement is the revitalized message of Christian Endeavor for a new generation.
