Christian Endeavor was founded February 2, 1881. For many years, the CE movement trained youth leaders and encouraged young people to put their faith in action. It grew worldwide and set the standard for youth work in the church. Around 1960, professional youth ministry became the new standard and as a “Youth-Led” organization, Christian Endeavor lost its voice and influence. The organization has been working ever since to establish itself in a crowded “Youth-Pastor Led” ministry marketplace. Today, the movement in North American is experiencing a renaissance as churches and communities learn about the Endeavor Movement through Christian Endeavor International.
